Curio Cabinet~ A Poem

Curio Cabinet

I take out the golden key

Hidden in my pocket

Put it in the lock

And turn

I open my hand

And place you on the top shelf

You’re shiny, a little rusty

I’m protective of you now

Peaking out from a thin

Layer of dust

Are pairs of eyes

That once made me weak

In the knees

(Odd, I notice most are blue)

Mortal flesh has atrophied

Now in bionic state

Bronze, silver and gold

No more expectations

Love

You’re just another collectible

In my curio cabinet
